Christian apologist Ben Smith believes that the creation account in Genesis 1 can be read literally and historically as a real week of seven normal days without contradicting modern astronomy and geology regarding the age of the universe and Earth. Many Christians are divided over how to reconcile Genesis with modern science, and this book evaluates all of the major options, ultimately concluding that the Bible allows for an old universe and Earth in a way that is also scientifically accurate. A former Young Earth creationist, Smith now believes that the age of creation is not specified in the Bible, and therefore scientists are free to answer the question. He believes that Christians should not hide from the controversy over the age of the Earth, but should take a fresh look at the text and be impressed with its accuracy.

A ground-breaking book that takes on skeptics from both sides of the cosmological debate, arguing that science and the Bible are not at odds concerning the origin of the universe. The culmination of a physicist's thirty-five-year journey from MIT to Jerusalem, Genesis and the Big Bang presents a compelling argument that the events of the billions of years that cosmologists say followed the Big Bang and those of the first six days described in Genesis are, in fact, one and the same—identical realities described in vastly different terms. In engaging, accessible language, Dr. Schroeder reconciles the observable facts of science with the very essence of Western religion: the biblical account of Creation. Carefully reviewing and interpreting accepted scientific principles, analogous passages of Scripture, and biblical scholarship, Dr. Schroeder arrives at a conclusion so lucid that one wonders why it has taken this long in coming. The result for the reader—whether believer or skeptic, Jewish or Christian—is a totally fresh understanding of the key events in the life of the universe.

What did the writer of Genesis mean by “the first day”? Is it a literal week or a series of time periods? If I believe that the earth is 4.5 billion years old, am I denying the authority of Scripture? In response to the continuing controversy over the interpretation of the creation narrative in Genesis, John Lennox proposes a succinct method of reading and interpreting the first chapters of Genesis without discounting either science or Scripture. With examples from history, a brief but thorough exploration of the major interpretations, and a look into the particular significance of the creation of human beings, Lennox suggests that Christians can heed modern scientific knowledge while staying faithful to the biblical narrative. He moves beyond a simple response to the controversy, insisting that Genesis teaches us far more about the God of Jesus Christ and about God’s intention for creation than it does about the age of the earth. With this book, Lennox offers a careful yet accessible introduction to a scientifically-savvy, theologically-astute, and Scripturally faithful interpretation of Genesis.

Rediscovering Genesis is an exciting new look at the evolution/creation controversy. Its author is neither scientist nor theologian so he can present an objective point of view. The premise of the book is that both religion and science describe the same Universe and must be compatible. It accomplishes that goal by exposing the hidden assumptions and self-imposed restriction of both disciplines, and challenging them. It documents the changes needed from both disciplines. The book presents a well researched effort to root out the causes of the evolution/creation controversy and to discovers a solution that includes both disciplines. While the book is aimed at a Christian audience, it has much to offer to the less committed individuals as well. It will be of special interest to those who have been, or are currently being, exposed to the Theory of Evolution in our educational systems. It will be invaluable to the parents of those students. It will serve as a guide to educators. It will be of interest to all that are aware of the present controversy. The book is divided into two parts. The first part looks at the biblical creation account in the first 4 chapters of Genesis. By incorporating our modem knowledge into this account, it becomes compatible with both the scientific account of our beginning and the literal seven days of creation described in the Bible. That is a necessary first step in resolving the controversy between science and religion . Part 1 goes on to bring a new, deeper understanding of our relationship with our Creator. Part two brings us face-to-face with two major roadblocks to accepting a world-view that includes a Creator: (1) the problem of suffering in our world and, (2) the evolution/creation controversy. The first roadblock, the problem of suffering, occurs only in the teaching of Christianity. It occurs because we misunderstand the relationship of the Creator with His creation. Understanding this special relationship starts in Genesis. Misunderstanding and misinformation have marked the second, the evolution/creation controversy, from the very beginning. This book explains the facts that are important for general understanding. It goes on to closely examine the scientific definition of life and shows where it leads . This is also a necessary step in resolving the evolution/science controversy. Throughout the book, the overriding theme is authority and its important function in our lives. It is the common ground where both science and religion can merge. Find out how it can change your world-view and your life.

A new and inspiring view of creation and the Flood After the Beginning offers compelling insight about God's purpose for an eternal loving relationship with mankind that was made in His image. This theme is revealed in Genesis with the creation of Adam and Eve, with the animals named by Adam, and with the animals that were saved on the ark. From creation through the Flood, Dr. Edridge concludes that the creatures described in Genesis had emotional capability, such as mammals and birds. Further consideration of species that should be included in the creation narrative leads to agreement between the biblical sequence of creation and the scientific chronology of the fossil record and the early stages of the Earth's development. Dr. Edridge examines different flood models to determine if they are consistent with biblical parameters and scientific scrutiny. Based on documented flood records and geological events, he proposes a new catastrophic Flood Model that meets both qualitative and quantitative requirements for the most likely flooded area, the cradle of civilization. This model is unique, providing a viable mechanism that caused the Flood to subside, but which agrees with the biblical description.

Author Ben Smith once believed a faithful and literal interpretation of the Bible meant he would also have to believe in a universe and Earth only thousands of years old. Young-Earth proponents use the creation account in Genesis, the first book in the Bible, to estimate the Earth's age to be around six-thousand years. While many people are content to accept this view of Earth's beginnings, other Christians struggle to reconcile the scientific evidence supporting an old Earth with the teaching of the Bible. As Smith matured in his understanding of God, the Bible, and science, he came to believe a young-Earth view of the universe is both biblically and scientifically unsound. In Genesis, Science, and the Beginning Smith guides readers through the multiple theories Christians have formed attempting to reconcile science with Scripture before making a case for the interpretation he supports. A must-read for anyone who desires to uphold the inerrancy of scripture while believing in a literal historical view of Genesis and scientific evidence, Genesis, Science, and the Beginning equips Christians to speak intelligently in a public forum about what the Bible teaches about the origins of existence.

The beginning of Genesis represents the basic foundation of the entire Bible. If the reader does not understand the foundational truths, then he will likely misunderstand the rest of the book. The truths that follow stand or fall upon the foundation of the first few chapters of Genesis. This book is a personal passion of my heart from a conservative viewpoint of God's Creation of the world. Things did not just come into existence by some cosmic accident or chance, but by an Ingenious Designer-Creator that purposed every facet of His perfect creation. Many individuals have been deceived with the teachings and the lies of evolution, such as man arriving from a monkey. Some teachers have used these lies that the earth is billions of years old. However, the Bible clearly teaches that creation came to pass just over 6,000 years ago. Those years are well documented in Genesis and other Bible accounts. Since my first degree was in science, it is my desire to show every person possible that the Bible is absolutely true and completely trustworthy. The truth is that science is attempting to catch up with biblical truth, yet it never will. That is because the Creator of this vast universe is so far advanced of all scientific discoveries that man will never be able to reach that super-human level of wisdom. God possesses unlimited understanding of creation that man will never achieve. In the beginning, every single thing made was perfect until man committed sin in Genesis 3. My desire is to inspire all who are seeking to uncover the truth about creation to study those conservative teachings about life and how human beings arrived on earth. There is absolutely no scientific evidence of any humans living on any of the other planets. God announced early in Genesis that His focus was upon the heavens and the earth, which is taught throughout the Bible. He never mentions about man getting to another planet, but He does desire that all humans go to heaven. The provision for man to go to heaven is through the blood of Jesus, since this is the Only Way.
